2004 - Clear 40th Anniversary Joe!

On April 5, 2004, my GI Joe Club membership package arrived. This is my second go-round for the club. Two years ago they featured an SA body clear GI Joe as premium for membership. See below.

This year, (2004) their premium is a 40th Anniversary clear GI Joe, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of GI Joe, who was born in 1964.

Here are some pics of the Joe.

Here you see the Joe in his full splendor. The head is whiter, more translucent than transparent. However, that doesn't bother me too much.

My plan is to flock this guy with white hair and make him a clear AT member.

Here Joe poses. The elastics in the hips are a bit stiff, making the legs harder to pose. It could be that the difference in the plastic makes the friction quotient different from a normal Joe. The result is that the hips kind of pop from one position to another, making it harder to pose. But as you can see, he can indeed pose.

Here, Clear Joe is dressed in his "Mission: Splashdown" jumpsuit, boots and cap. He is wearing a white Cotswold reproduction shoulder holster. The gun is a white molded luger-like pistol I got from a Sandboxer. The jumpsuit is practically translucent itself, the fabric is so thin. It's a cool look for Joe.

2002 - SA Joe Clear Figure

On January 31, 2002, my GI Joe Club membership package arrived. Inside was the new Club Exclusive figure. A nude, clear GI Joe with SuperArticulated body, belt, knife, gun, and hat.

Well, for someone like me who likes a diverse set of figures, and who tends towards the unusual, this figure is just what the doctor ordered. I have plans for him, believe me.

Below is a pictorial comparison between the clear figure, and the exact same figure in its normal, non-clear version.

My figure starts with the WWII head sculpt. One other report indicates this figure also comes with the LSV driver head.

Here, the clear figure stands next to his non-clear counterpart. Note the belt is the same, the knife, the hat and the gun.

Here they stand, side by side. Certain parts of the clear Joe are in fact white. The elbow and lower section of the upper arm, the knees, and the ankle posts. My regular Joe has the painted "gloved" hands.

The hat comes from a recent carded Vietnam M60 Gunner GI Joe. The gun is from the GI Joe Night Ops set. The belt and gun are from the recent Secret of the Mummy's Tomb set.

Here, clear Joe wears his Samurai Jack Gi, and exercises with Katana and Wakisashi.

As part of his Zen training, clear Joe practices playing Twelve Monkeys.

I thought clearJoe could make an interesting starting point for a new Destro character.
