First up is the new GI Joe Adventure Team Command Car. The new Chevy SSR Pickup Truck is ideal for the Joe team. It is a two-seater with a hard-shelled covered pick-up pan. This is a New Bright 1:6 scale Remote Control vehicle that will be customized with Adventure Team stickers, and the removal of the SSR logos on the sides.
I found this one at a Sam's Club for -- $24.00!!!!!! I kid you not. The story is cool.
I found a Target PT Cruiser for $40.00 and I figured my Commander may use it for a personal vehicle, or as an AT Command Car. At the time I thought I'd never get the SSR because it was $140 at FAO Schwarz and $120 or so at Exoticar, and I had not seen them elsewhere. So a Sandboxer told me that he saw them at Sam's Club for $70. Another wrote me and told me he saw them at Sam's for $60.
So the next day I checked online and found a Sam's Club near me. I called them and asked a very nice, very helpful young lady named Denise if they had the New Bright Chevy SSR. She said she'd check. About 5 minutes of being on hold, she came back and said "Yes, we have one left." "Really?" I asked with bated breath. "Is it a big one, about 3 feet long?" "Yeah, it's huge." "What color?" "Yellow."
At this point I thought I had struck paydirt.
"What's the price?" "$25.00"
I thought I was going to pass out.
"I'm not a member, is there any way I can get that car?" "Sure, we have a day pass. You don't pay membership, but you pay a 10% surcharge on the items." (I'm thinking I can foot the extra $2.50) "Could you hold it for me?" "Sure, it'll be here at the front desk for you." She took my name and that was that.
Now I'm the proud owner of a $25.00 New Bright Chevy SSR! The one toy I had to have this year, next to the Simpsons Town Center. I just didn't know how I was going to justify over $100.00 for it.

The Commander takes a look at the new arrival - a new suped-up Chevy SSR - which will become the Adventure Team's new Command Car. |

He has a look under the hood. The engine inside is a top secret design that the Adventure Team had installed at the Chevy plant. No other organization will be equipped with this patented engine. |

The pan has a hard-shell cover and tail-gate. It has enough room for most cargo. An AT logo will sit atop the hard-shell cover when this baby goes in for detailing. |

The Tech Adventurer shows up to have a gander at the new Command Car. The Commander goes over the details with the Tech Adventurer, discussing what new features they'll add to this almost stock vehicle. |

"Get in, let's take her for a spin." "Roger, Commander." |

Vroooooom! |

And here, we see the Commander, dressed for cold weather (this is a few weeks later) with the AT detailing done. The body shop removed the ridiculous SSR striping and applied the more appropriate AT logos. The words "Adventure Team Command Vehicle" are on both doors and the rear pan door. (I apologize for the inadvertent product placement!) |
The cool thing about this GI Joe car is that it is a remote control vehicle that fits GI Joe. (It's a tight squeeze, but he CAN fit. I think the new GI Joe bodies (both of the ones above use the old Vintage body format) will fit better, but even these can fit.)
Some of its features include engine sound, horn, car alarm feature, three speeds, headlights and tail-lights work, and the signal lights work when you're turning. Folks, this may have been the deal of the century.
But I found after unpacking it, I had some leftovers. Anyone want an intelligent 7-year-old girl? Comes packaged.
