Miniature Keys

I found these miniature keys at a A.C. Moore Craft Store. They are a perfect scale for old-fashioned keys for Joe.

Three different styles, and three of each. Quite nice!

Each key has a sewing loop on it which is undesirable. We clip those off.

I used wire cutters. Careful. the loop flies off rather dangerously. And the end is not neat.

It will require filing. Rather, I think a filing tool would work better to remove it all. A Dremel would be perfect.

Using the back, I hope this is enough info so you can find them on your own. Seems the web site is www.7gypsies.com

Miniature Locks

At a local Jo Ann Fabrics, I found these miniature locks. They are really clasps, and so are not functional, but they look ok.

The quality is nothing close to the quality of the keys above. In fact, I'd toss the keys, but the locks are pretty ok.

They are made from three separate pieces of metal. The front face, the lock arm, and the back face. Each of these are glued with epoxy, and the backs came off all but one of my locks, but that's ok too. Just re-epoxy them, with more generous amounts of epoxy.

The keys scale quite nicely.

And one of them even fits into the key aperture of the lock.

One more point:

Each lock's arm is molded and it seems that they are glued in the wrong way-round. It seems if you can break the glue and turn them around, the rounded side of the arms would face outward, which would work better. (I may illustrate this later.)
