A Blast From The Past"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back in the 1980s an old friend, Howard Wellman, asked me to do the interior design for an arcade he was building under JJ&#8217;s Restaurant, one of Springdale&#8217;s best eateries for burgers and such. Everyone ate there. It was quite the spot.<\/p>\n<p>He called his arcade &#8220;The Spot&#8221; and asked me to design and paint its walls. Somewhere in my archives I have photos of the walls I painted, but sadly, I can&#8217;t find them at the moment.<\/p>\n<p>However, I still have this t-shirt:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.huxter.org\/words\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/the-spot-t-shirt-front-01.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2424\" src=\"http:\/\/www.huxter.org\/words\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/the-spot-t-shirt-front-01-523x600.jpg\" alt=\"the-spot-t-shirt-front-01\" width=\"523\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.huxter.org\/words\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/the-spot-t-shirt-front-01-523x600.jpg 523w, http:\/\/www.huxter.org\/words\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/the-spot-t-shirt-front-01-261x300.jpg 261w, http:\/\/www.huxter.org\/words\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/the-spot-t-shirt-front-01.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 523px) 100vw, 523px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I later redid the interior, when he expanded it to double its size, and then I did another one in Baie Verte, where he opened a second location. No photos of that, however.<\/p>\n<p>But it&#8217;s sure nice to still have this.<\/p>\n<p>Howard died of cancer a few years ago, and before he died, he gave me back a few sketches and things I did for him back then.
