This could even be seen in a dual form in <em><strong>&#8220;2001: A Space Odyssey&#8221;<\/strong><\/em>, the 1968 Kubrick film.<\/p>\n<p>I coveted this kit as a kid, but never got it. I managed to get a few other rocket model kits from the same line but never this space station.<\/p>\n<p>Until recently when <strong>Lindberg<\/strong> released a dual reproduction kit of the <strong>Space Base<\/strong> (now called) and the <strong>Explorer Rocket<\/strong>. I snapped it up, and it sat on my shelf unbuilt for a few years.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3170\" src=\"http:\/\/www.huxter.org\/words\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/lindberg-space-station-box-art-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"417\" height=\"323\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.huxter.org\/words\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/lindberg-space-station-box-art-2.jpg 417w, http:\/\/www.huxter.org\/words\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/lindberg-space-station-box-art-2-387x300.jpg 387w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 417px) 100vw, 417px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I just recently finished it. Chris Hadfield&#8217;s<\/strong><\/a> real stay on the <strong>International Space Station<\/strong> beginning with his launch on Dec 19, 2012. Memorably, he played <em><strong>&#8220;A Space Oddity&#8221;<\/strong><\/em> by Bowie for a YouTube video while up there.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/KaOC9danxNo\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>So I thought I would commemorate this achievement by Canadian Astronaut Col. Chris Hadfield by naming this station the <strong>Canadian Space Station Hadfield<\/strong>, with serial number <strong>CSS 12192012<\/strong>, the date Col. Hadfield launched towards the International Space Station.
