TARDIS Console (Page 2 - Details)

April 21, 2004

Here, the Plinth base has the interior panels painted gloss black.

The under panel needs a hole cut into it to accommodate the Time Rotor that will fit inside.

The hole is made to coincide with the already-built plinth. The inside measurement is 6.5cm.

Here the under panel sits on the plinth base..

Here you see the completed console from the top. Each panel is festooned with stuff I found in various places. I used photos of the TARDIS conosle to get some ideas for the panels, but none of these are exactly like the real TARDIS's panels.

You can do what you want here. I use a lot of beads and matte-board shapes. Also plastic film cans cut on a bias for hooded oscilloscope-type monitors.

Wing it. Have fun.

(Click on any of these panels for a close-up of that panel.)

Here, the TARDIS Console is in its complete stage. The Time Rotor is made of a plastic container, with clear colored beads inside, with the handles of orange plastic knives and a red panel I got from a Batman toy.

It sits on an empty Rolaids bottle on the base of the plinth.

The clear plastic cylinder (which was a container of drinking straws) sits ready to go over the Time Rotor..

Voila! Done.

Everyone knows the Time Rotor, when the TARDIS is in operation, rises up and down. I use a small paper cup inside the plinth base to rise the Time Rotor up. The whole assembly sits on top of the cup, which is about 2 inches tall.
