GI Joe
AT Ginger

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen of the Adventure Team, welcome. Today is a great day in Adventure Team history. Today we release a new device that will revolutionize the way we carry out missions. It could even revolutionize the way cities are built.

And now without further delay, I will unveil It...

Ladies and gentlemen, the AT Ginger.

The world's first self-balancing personal levitating transport.

AT Ginger is a lightweight, powerful personal levitation device. Similar to the awkward and impractical Aerial Recon Hover Platform in some ways, it's light and maneuverable, but superior to that dud in every way. The ARHP was too small to contain any power, and its fuel source had to be recharged every hour of flight. As I said, very impractical.

This new machine beats the Turbo Copter as well in several vital ways. The Turbo Copter, while excellent for work in general situations, had no built-in weaponry, was noisy, and dangerous. The rotors could collide with obstacles in tight areas, and was not terribly fuel efficient. It's still one of my favorite of the vintage transportation devices, however.

But the AT Ginger is unique. Powered by a light and efficient power source (which must remain top secret even among our own AT operatives) AT Ginger is maneuverable, stable, lightweight, and can be equipped to carry some small amount of gear or equipment, plus anything the pilot can carry in his or her backpack.

You may notice the protruding gun barrel at the front. Details on that will follow at a later briefing, but suffice to say, it can get you out of a pinch.

You mount the AT Ginger like so. The surface of the platform is coated with non-slip friction pads.

Once you mount the AT Ginger platform, you grip the handlebars, twist the left grip, and...

You lift off the ground. Then the machine's unique gyro-control systems kick in, and remains stable entirely depending on how you stand, and how you balance.

To turn, simply lean. It's as natural as walking. To move forward, lean forward. The AT Ginger reads the difference in balance, and adjusts and moves accordingly. But fear not. Even in situations where you are accidentally knocked off balance, the machine reads your body movement, and if it is an illogical move, it will auto-stabilize until you recover your balance. If you accidentally slip your hand off the altitude control, it gradually descends to a safe altitude. Gradually enough so that landing will be smooth and gentle.

Ladies and gentlemen of the Adventure Team, I give you... the AT Ginger. Let me just slap an AT logo on there, paint it yellow, and you'll be using it in no time. Your adventure awaits.

The AT Ginger is an adaptation of a Dragon Ball Z Jet Momonga hovering platform seen here:

I removed the handlebar assembly, and used epoxy cement to glue a painted shaft extension to raise the handlebars high enough so GI Joe could use the platform. The shaft is from the 21st Century Kubelwagen gun mount that I never used.

My intention is to add electronics (the headlight) and a motor for sound effects, and I may paint it yellow and black. Here's a mock-up:
